Nepal is the second richest country in the world for water resources. It has so many rivers, streams, ponds and lakes. They are full of water throughout the year. They have great possibility of hydro-electricity in Nepal.

 It is situated on the lap of the Himalayas. It is naturally rich but it is economically poor. The green forests, water-falls, snow-capped mountains, tranquil lakes are its main attractions. Nepal is popular all over the world for its natural beauty. Located on the lap of the Himalaya between India and China, Nepal is very rich in natural resources. Immense green forests, tranquil lakes, snow-capped mountains,and the rivers originated from these mountains with large water are some major resources of Nepal. The rivers in Nepal are its most important natural resource.

 Most of the rivers of Nepal are originated through the Himalayas. As a result, the rivers have plenty of water throughout the year.Among them Koshi In the eastern part, Gandaki in the central part, and Karnali in the western part are the major ones. These three major rivers have many feeder tributaries. The rivers of Nepal have great importance for its economic development. They can be used to generate hydro electricity. Still Nepal is not able to produce enough electricity Nepal can generate enough electricity from the Nepalese rivers. They can be used for irrigation. Because of the lack of irrigation system, Nepalese farmers depend on rainfall for agriculture. As a result, the production is low. The land is left barren during dry seasons. The rivers of Nepal can be used for irrigating the farm. The tourists are attracted by the flow of water. They can visit Nepal for various adventurous games like rafting, bungee jumping and so on As a result, tourism can be flourished. They also can be used for transport. In addition, the rivers can be used for drinking purposes There is lack of enough drinking water in the cities. The rivers of Nepal can be used for drinking purposes.

 There are many rivers in the country. But there is not proper use of our water resources. The wastages are thrown in the rivers. The rivers of Nepal are being polluted. The holy rivers of Kathmandu like Bagmati and Bishnunm are badly polluted. This should be stopped at any cost. The rivers of Nepal have not been properly used for irrigation and generating electricity. It is because of the lack of technicians and adequae capital. The country has to allot adequate budget for such projects.

 Water resources are one of the most important natural resources of Nepal. We are very rich in water but there is lack of knowledge and capital to use it properly. By utilizing these natural resources properly, we can lead our nation towards its prosperity.
