Essay about Himalayas in Nepal Nepal is very rich in natural resources.Nepal is a mountainous country. It is situated on the lap of the Himalayas. It is naturally rich although it is economically poor. The snow-capped mountains, tranquil lakes are its main attractions. Nepal is known as land of the Himalayas There are the loftiest mountains in the world.  The Himalayas extend all over the northern Nepal and occupy nearly forty percent of the total area of the country. They consist of several parallel ranges. The higher Himalayas are perpetually covered with snow. That's why they are called the Himalayas. In Sanskrit, 'Himalaya' means the abode of snow.
