Education has many varieties. It has different purposes. It differs according to purpose, need and fields. Some people need technical education. Some need vocational education, Some just study for theoretical knowledge or understanding. One of the tyes of education is technical education. Technical education is the education which gives special skills in some subjects. It means knowledge for using machines and tools skillfully. This is the age of science and technology. It needs practical education. Only theoretical education is not sufficient today. Technical education is a vital education. If we get only the theoretical
knowledge, it is just for our moral or character development. We do not get practical knowledge from bookish education or theoretical education. We need technical education to any practical work successfully. There are some fields of technical education like civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, information technology engineering, agriculture, mining, pottery and health sector also.
After industrial revolution in Britain, there came great revolution in technical skill. The present age is the age of machines. Today  produced things with the help of our hands cannot be sufficient for the growing population. Our hands cannot produce large quantities of goods. The cost of such production is also comparatively higher but production is slower. Many improved machines have been
invented due to the progress of science and technology. With the help of such machines, we can manufacture large quantity of goods Today, the developed countries in the world have got progress due to technical education. Technical education helps for the progress of the country. A country can prosper in every field like agriculture industry, transport and communications and other with the help of technical education.
The persons who have technical education are called technicians. Technicians can follow the improved methods and produce better and large quantity of goods in a short time. They can crate machines and manufacture large number of goods. They
can help to construct bridges, roads, factories, canals etc. They can drive cars, fly aeroplanes. Technicians can help for the progress of each developmental activity. Technicians have great role in sustainable development in a country. Technical education makes a nation developed and self-dependent. A country which do not have adequate technicians, have to bring the technicians from other countries and pay a lot of money for them. Our developmental activities will be stopped to the lack of technicians. Nepal is still a underdeveloped country. There are many unemployed people They can be good human resources for the nation but because of the lack of technical skill they are unemployed. There is need of different kinds of technicians in the fields of agriculture, industry, transport and communication, health engineering etc. but lack of good technicians. The main reason for this is the lack of technical human resource. There are few technical
schools and colleges in our country. There is a need of skillful human resources required for development of our country. This proves need and importance of technical education.
